  • Titles causing dropped frames

Posted by Richcd on September 1, 2006 at 5:36 pm

This problem is driving me crazy and I can’t find a solution. Every time I use the internal FCP titler – plain or 3D Title – it causes the sequence to drop frames. Even if the title is by itself on the timeline, it will not play back. If I have any sequences open that use the titler, I am prone to dropped frames.

It took me awhile just to isolate this problem. I’ve been through the whole ‘broken power switch” thing with G-Tech, and upgraded FCP to 5.1.1 and still have the same problem. Naturally, this just started happening out of the blue.

    I’m editing 8-bit Uncompressed on a Dual 2.7 G5 with 8 gigs of RAM, with a Decklink Extreme and G-Raid 1TB firewire 800 raid.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Rendered? The titles media created from within FCP (Text or boris) are contained in the project file. Not your G-Tech… that’s probably why they are dropping frames. If you render them to the G-tech… they’ll likely playback OK.

I have tried all manner of rendering and nothing seems to work. Keep in mind, too, that I haven’t changed my workflow at all and this problem just popped up one day. Is there something I am missing?

    Thanks for the help!
