Title safe on modern HDTV’s?
Posted by Norman Willis on March 22, 2010 at 11:15 pmAre the title-safe areas still applicable to modern HDTV’s, and Plasma? Or does that really only apply to the old cathode-ray-tube stuff?
Thanks.

Yes they are. Not to the extent of older TV’s but my HDTV does not show all of the video frame that the Vegas preview does. It still cuts some of the frame off.

March 23, 2010 at 11:26 amthat is true in some LCD, but in the good ones you can adjust the size to full frame and move all that information inside the viewable area.

March 23, 2010 at 3:55 pmYes, but unless you are making it for yourself how do you know that your client has a ‘good’ tv. Better to use some safe area and play it safe, so to speak.

March 23, 2010 at 7:04 pmYep, you are right, is better work thinking in the no pro people, that way you’ll be always in to a safe area. Any way the safe area for an LCD is about 3 or 5% no more than that; in old TV’s go’s around 10% and more in the corners.
