    Is it possible to maintain opacity information when exporting a file from AFX to Canopus Edius Pro3?
    I need to use a programme title/effect over some introshots and I would like to be able to lengthen the effect to the length I need.

    I would assume that the Canopus CODEC for Edius Pro3 has Alpha Channel support. Just ensure that you select RGB+Alpha in the Output Module with Straight Alpha Channel.
    Your other option is to render a 32-bit TGA sequence.
