Hi! Could anyone please explain to me why my pr. pro titles go from sharp to jagged to sharp on Vimeo, while the same titles appear fine on YouTube? I tried the playback on various devices with good internet speed and the quality cog at 1080p but the problem persists. Strangely, the first time I played the same video on Vimeo the titles were fine. Your advice would be much appreciated!

I believe it’s the compression in Vimeo.

Have you contacted Vimeo on this?

I’ve had too many issues with Vimeo in the past for client approvals so I canceled the pro account.

Vimeo has a great support system for PRO and they actually did a better compression of my FX sequence than did YT, but after many messages they just said they didn’t know why YT displayed the titles better and to follow their compression guidelines, which I had already done. I’m beginning to suspect is has something to do with their adaptive streaming which lags to get up to speed. Despite my good internet speed, the video often begins at low def.

Now the next question, who is your target?

With the internet, it’s soup to nuts on quality so honestly, you have no control over someone’s viewing experience.

I use frame io for clients and it’s just fingers crossed as far as quality goes.

So far no complaints compared to Vimeo and YouTube.

Once the client is in control, I have to step away and let go 😛

Thanks, Eric! My client is everyone so I need to do my best and hope the platform will do a good compression and stream.

I really wish there was a magic button for that 🙂
