[Gilles Gagnon] “Why does Vegas put the settings for the actual file rendering quality in the Preview window? I would think that what is in the preview window is for…. the quality of the previewing? Hmmmm…..”

They DON’T so perhaps I’ve confused you.

The rendering quality is controlled in the project properties and the render template. The preview quality is totally separate and DOES NOT affect the render quality. BUT… If you edit your entire project in low quality and then render in high quality, you may be in for a few surprises. So it’s always good to set your project quality to match your render quality when checking how the finished render will look.

    Does that make more sense?

    Good news!

For those who encounter performance issues with AVCHD in Vegas.

I’d like to report that when I moved to Vegas 10… the performance significantly improved! 🙂

When previewing in SV10, preview-auto, the frame rate can now be maintained at 29.97 during playback. This is making my editing sessions much more pleasant.

I hope this tidbit of info will help others.

    Cheers,
    Gilles
