  Tips for using shared storage, Symbolic links for backups and templates

  Hi,

  Two tips for shared storage users (Xsan and others.)

  For common use of the same template use a symbolic link to the shared place, and for getting the backups for a library to NOT stay on you own computer….

  All done in terminal:
  just do a CD to you movie folder first. (type cd and drag you movie folder into the window and hit return)

  ln -s /Volumes/SharedDisk/folderForTemplates/ Motion Templates.localized
  ln -s /Volumes/SharedDisk/folderForBackups/ Final\ Cut\ Backups.localized
