Timing pictures and transitions
Is there a function or a place to enter how long of a song you have, how many pictures you have and how long you want the transitions to be between the pictures in vegas? If there is could someone please tell me where it is?

One easy thing you could do is add the images and music with the desired crossfade. Then you can select all the images, “G”roup them, and then hold down the CTRL key to resize the group to match the song. The only bad news is that the dissolve lengths will be slightly adjusted as well.
What you are doing is certainly possible via a script. Ultimate S has the ability to match a slide show length to a song. Excalibur can do it but it would take multiple steps. I’ve thought about adding a simplified process to Excalibur in the past but really have had no requests for that functionality. You might want to take a look at the Video Scrapbook tool in Excalibur, though.
I did find a “Slideshow to markers” script (which both Excalibur and Ultimate S can do). But I don’t recall seeing any free “slideshow to length” scripts.
