Just wondering why when you alter the speed in the timewarp filter it doesn’t adjust the duration of the layer on the timeline. Yet with time stretching it does?

time warp is an effect, and as an effect it will effect the footage, but can’t effect the duration or the layer. time stretch is actually effecting the duration of the footage.

Ok, I’ve been playing with the effect a little more and I’m beginning to understand it.

My question now is that, say I have a clip that’s 15 seconds that I would like to slow down 50% to 30 seconds. With timewarp after 15 seconds the out point stays the same. What happens to that other 15 seconds of slowed down footage?

there is a work around for that…

what you need is to make ae think that your footage is longer than it is. to do that you need to ‘loop’ your footage in the interpret footage settings… select your footage in your project window, right-click it or file>interpret footage>main…

in the interpret footage menu, near the bottom, is a loop number, set it to the number of loops that will make your footage long enough, in your case ‘2’ (you may also need to pull your out point of that clip to match the new length if it is already in a comp).
