When I applied Timewarp FX, the length of the clip stayed the same even though the speed changed. Is it possible to change the duration of the clip as it changes speed? Or do I need to do the FX in stages?

If you are on XPress, you don’t have much control over motion effects. Media composer has keyframable motion effects. Which system are you on?

you need to change the duration of your clip with trimming.
your keyframes for speed changes with change accordingly to the trim.
