I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem? After I have been zoomed into the timeline and I backout, PPro suddenly shuts down and I have to restart my machine to be able to get back into my project. Very annoying.

I have never had the problem, but I always zoom using the + and – keys not any slider, etc. Do you use the slider or what? Have you tried other ways of zooming and does it always crash? Do you zoom to a certain resolution or is it just zooming in general?

I have same problem from the moment i switch to vista 64 and PPro 3.
I am wandering if you use same software configuration because i have this problem on 2 of may machines and have no problem with xp set-up.
i would like to know how to solve the problem but so far just press Ctrl+s every time before zooming .
As a remark , no need to shut down the system , just close the Adobe Premiere Pro.exe*32 process from windows task manager and premiere will start .
If anybody know something about this issue will be nice to help as here .

I no longer have the same configuration from the time of the original post. I’m running CS4 with Vista Business 64 and using a Matrox RT.X2.
Since adding the Matrox card I haven’t had any problems and the 64 bit OS really helped.

I was just think that i have not specified matrox Rtx2 in may set-up.
I have this card and believe that could be the reason for issue .
I have buy tow months ago Cs4 and try but i run in other issues with Mxtools 4.01 regarding accelerated export for mpeg 2 and system instability
Do you use this drivers or the new release 4.1 ?
At the present time can’t afford testing the new release and i would appreciate your opinion about (if you run on this version )

Ursu, I just upgraded to the 4.1 Matrox drivers and they seem to be working pretty darn good. I haven’t had any problems but I’ve been doing pretty basic stuff lately. I also made sure ALL my drivers were up to date and I added more RAM so I have 4 gig per processor. The accelerated output is back which is really nice. It’s incorporated right in media encoder so you don’t have to worry about extra settings. The other change I made to my system was getting rid of a Sound Blaster Audigy Pro sound card and just using the on board audio. I’m not sure which change I made did the trick, I’m just happy it’s been pretty solid since. – I probably just jinxed myself now that I’ve said that…:-)

Glad to here a matrox user happy (long time to sow such a thing )
As soon i will finish actual projects i am gone give a try on 4.1 mx tools .
About ram i am little confused , what exactly you mean with 4 Gb per procesor ? do you use tow processors or you count the cores ?
    I use 6 Gb DDR 3 1600 Mhz on Cpu intel I7 920 @ 3.6 Ghz + Asus P6T,
Quadro FX 1800 Velociraptor 300 Gb for system and a good pear of HDD in raid 0 for projects .
You think that is ok for projects 1440/1080 on vista 64 ? (it’s run ok on xp )

My system uses a pair of AMD Opteron 265s. I have Tyan server class MB, Thunder K8WE, so it requires Registered RAM for each processor. It sounds like you’d have enough RAM oomph. I’m running DDR-400 in my system and I have a Nvidia quadro FX 1700. Like I said before, I’m not sure what made everything finally work well but I’m glad it does. I was also having problems capturing analog stuff. Since the upgrade I’m running pretty good.

Thank you again and excuse the fact that i did not pay attention to the date of original post …
