timeline settings-mixed footage?
Hey guys quick question.
I am editing a documentary and have footage from different cameras, with diffrent codecs,
and sizes. I am listing the specifics based on the amount of footage for each one:50% HDV, 1440×1080, 23.98fps compressor: HDV1080p24
30% HDV, 1440×1080 29.97fps compressor: HDV1080i60
10% Canon 5D, 1920×1080, 30 fps compressor: H.264
10% 1440×1080, 23.98fps, compressor: Apple ProRes422What is the best setting for my timeline, and output? final destination SD DVD

First things first, convert your footage from the 5D to something other then H.264. H.264 is NOT an editing codec.
I recommend converting the H.264 files to ProRes, and then editing on a ProRes timeline. HDV works great on a ProRes timeline.
You may however have issues with all your various frame rates (I count 3 different frame rates.
There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.
Don’t let technology get in the way of your creativity! -
And 60% of your footage is already 23.98.
I think this would be the most logic solution.
