  • Timeline says “render!” but i dont know why

So I have a project with many a multi-clip cut into a HD seq. … everything plays just fine but many of the clips have the red bar above them as if they need to be rendered, but they dont. All of the sources angles for the multi-clips are online.

    any ideas?

    thanks!

maybe you accidentally applied a speed change or a filter to some of the clips in the multiclip.

try rightclicking on a “red” clip in the timeline and select “remove attributes”. the attributes that can be removed from the clip are the ones not grayed out in the popup that comes up. for instance if the checkbox next to “speed” is enabled, then you must have applied a speed change. same for filters, basic motion, etc. it could be any of these that needs render.

have you checked that the timeline has “multiclip playback” enabled?

is the red bar a video bar or an audio bar? maybe it wants to render the audio. are any of the sound clips in 32Khz?

just because the clips are online doesn’t mean they don’t need to be rendered. It may just mean they are only playing at a lower resolution/frame rate for preview purposes, and need to be rendered for output.

That makes sense, but what is weird is that it’s only some of the clips, not all of them. They were all shot on the same format and same camera models (F900).

If the source is the same, and it happens on some clips but not others in the same sequence, and you have confirmed that all the clip settings are the same, then something happened during editing. Perhaps you were in image+wireframe mode and accidentally moved the frame in the canvas. Not enough to really notice, but even a fraction is enough.

Try the Remove Attributes trick. I’d guess the render bar will go away once you remove attributes for Basic Motion.

Could it be audio? Do you audio fx and/or multiple tracks in some areas?
