    Hi guys!

    It’s kinda basic, but I can’t get it… so here’s my question:
I have a pretty complex composition, and now I want to insert a few seconds somewhere in the middle of my composition to have a pic stay on the screen longer. How can I insert some time at a specific timepoint so that the following stuff is all moved forward accordingly (including keyframes and such)?

Yes, keyframes are the problem… there’re so many! Sounds like I have to bite the bullet and do it manually. This is my first “big” project in AE and besids lots of small tricks I learned for life to plan timings from the beginning 😉

    Thanks for your answer,
    Chris

If the only thing that you’re trying to do is hold an image on screen for longer, you may be able to get away by time-remapping your composition. From what you’ve said, this may be appropriate for your situation. Or at least it might get you started down the right path.

Thanks for the repy Todd! Time remapping is not an option in my situation, as there are many layers in my comp, and timestretching only one would screw up the timing of the others, i.e. the whole composition.

It’s a nice feature, though, love it (under other circumstances ;)!

OK. Just to be clear, though, I was thinking that you would apply time remapping to the whole composition (technically, to a precomposition layer nested in another composition). Then you could re-time the whole composition.

Yeah, i was thinking along these lines as well…
if you take your entire comp and precomp it, then you can play around with the timing and insert/retime stuff as needed. Only works if you don’t need to deal with specific elements while other stuff keeps going, but may be applicable.
