I’m completely stuck in a project I worked on for days.
Somewhere during the last part of the project (animating a null/group) all the objects (except that null-object) in the Timeline-editor disappeared and I can’t find a way to get them back.
I copied all settings for the menu-items in the Timeline from another file (in which alll the objects act “normal”); without result.
Selecting other objects in the OM, doesn’t influence the content of the Timeline; only the null object stays there.
In preview, the whole animation is still running perfectly, I can render animations / stills etc.
I just can’t work in the Timeline no more.
Tried to copy everything into a new file: all objects are there, but only the null is animated.

I can’t think of anymore options; and feeling pretty desperate.

In the Timeline’s View menu, make sure “Automatic Mode” is active, and make sure that View>Show>Show Animated is turned on.

    Thanks Adam,

Just before your reaction I found out that indeed I had to turn on Automatic Mode and turn off Show Animation, because I prefer to have the same structure in the right column of the Timeline as in the OM.

The problem occurred, because I probably chose “Show tracks” with a right click on one of the objects in the OM; after that the Timeline turns empty and Automatic Mode is turned off.
Anyway, I’m on track again. The benefit of having the option to choose the same commands on different places within C4D (with sometimes slightly different results) turns into a little nightmare for a beginner.
