    Precision editor.

    Control-e should toggle it off.

Double clicking an edit point invokes it.

It’s a different way to trim. I don’t really use it either.

It’s a silly pointless way to trim that came over from that iMovie app that they didn’t steal a single line of code from. Oh, wait, wrong forum! Let me rephrase…

Yes, I refrain from it’s use as well.

Very handy when reviewing bits of interview that were pieced together and you wonder what people said before or after the bit that you cut in. Or anytime you want to see what the extra material is without changing your current edit. Saves umpteen number of match frames…

    just my two cents

It is good for that. Although a good trim editor like in legacy or avid does exactly that, but generally is more powerful. Agreed this serves the same purpose, but only with a 2 up window if you use the mouse. And we still lack any sort of dynamic trim unless I missed it.

Oh, and escape will also get you out of the precision editor.

I’m the only person I know who used the similar Trim Edit in Legacy.

I quite like looking at edits that way sometimes.
