For long time Cow readers, you know I have written a series of books called Timeline that explain how the ground was laid, so to speak, for Media 100 to exist.

Last month I updated the story of Media 100 with a bunch of new interviews with Morty Tarr and his colleagues in Timeline Analog 4.

Today I am very proud to release an updated version of the iPad Timeline book that explains where editing came from.

It has exclusive new interviews with CMX-600 engineers, Jim Adams and Cal Strobele. Plus new material from Dave Bargen, the inventor of the EDL and color coded keyboard. There are complete biographies for Burgess Dempster and Robert Bonney (EECO). Eadweard Muybridge, John Carbutt, Sir John Herschel, John Hyatt and I have embedded the first films ever recorded – ” Roundhay Garden Scene” and “Fred Ott’s Sneeze”.

There is the un-told story of two engineers named Ostrow and Haneman who built the first electronically controlled videotape system at RCA. In 1960. That never shipped.

If you already own Timeline Digital – just press update.
