  • Timeline lags behind, then crashes

I’ve seen this happen before on other computers, and I’d like to get a permanent solution.
My timeline starts to not show the work I did, but when I play the movie, it plays as if I did the work.
    Example:
    Have a clip in timeline.
I mark In and Out points in timeline around a section and hit “delete.”
In the timeline, the In and Out points go away (as if the delete had occurred) but the clip stays the same (as if it had not).
However, up in the viewer, it plays as if the section had been deleted. I kept trying to work, and the program crashed. I’ve got a pretty massive computer working on this, and a very simple timeline, so I don’t know why it would lag.

Have you tried trashing FCP’s preference files yet?
