I am filming sports. HDR FX-7 camera-Vegas 12.I am filming 1080.After capturing, when I play the footage from the timeline, I’ve noticed that as every new play starts ( I pause between plays on camera), I get a really quick blur. I enlarged my timeline, and realized that somehow the beginning of the next play was at the end of the previous play. Just maybe a 1/4 of a second. Enough to cause that quick blur. I had to go on the timeline and trim every play at the end. When I watch footage through camera-it plays smooth.Never had this issue filming in S.D. Any idea’s??

Did the camera come with capture software?

No Steve, it didn’t.I’ve done hundreds of games using DV with no issues at all. I just started filming in HDV and have had issues. I film in 1440×1080 29.97 fps. I used the HDV 1080-60i (1440×1080 29.97fps) template. My camera-Sony HDR FX-7 claims it’s 1080i. I’ve tried the 720p template also.Same thing. It plays flawlessly through the viewfinder. It’s got to be something with my project settings.

The reason I ask is because you described what happens when a CF card maximun file size is 2Gb. The raw video has to be divided into 2Gb chunks. The download software that comes with the camera (I am not familiar with the one you have) stitches those segments into one file.

Then I realized that the camera uses tape. Duh!

Try using HDVSplit to capture the video from the tape in the camera. It’s free and HDV capture is all it does. That’s what I used for a few years before buying some HVR DR-60 hard drive recorders.

[Mark Nacovitch] “. I enlarged my timeline, and realized that somehow the beginning of the next play was at the end of the previous play. “

Yup, that’s a bug with Vegas Pro’s HD capture utility and it will never be fixed because tape is dead. Use HDV Split as Steve suggested.

Interesting. I use an HDR FX1 with Vegas Pro 12 all the time. ( and I have used 10 pro as well). I don’t recall ever having this issue.
