  • Timeline holding last frame of clip

Posted by Dean Mikulla on April 1, 2006 at 4:47 pm

When I’m adding clips to the timeline, sometimes I’ll get to a point where the second to last clip’s frame holds as the timeline continues on through the next clip I added. I’ve tried shaving off (trimming the frame out), thinking it’s a dropped frame, (I had the report dropped frames box unchecked). But the remianing last frame just holds, no matter how much I trim the clip back.
    1. Whats happening here?
    2. When I get a dropped frame error message, can i salvage that clip somehow, and make it work?
    thanks, Dean

Just to clarify is this problem only on one clip? Different frames but the same clip?

I had a very similar problem. I didn’t hunt down the cause because I was working under deadline. A reboot did not help, so I re-captured. It was OK after a re-capture.

If it is happening to lots of different clips, this is not the answer. In that case you should provide as much detail about your system as you can.

Its only on certain clips, if I dont use the clip, I dont have the problem. I havent tried recapturing but that sounds like the problem.
I’m using a Sony TRV 140 , just an inexpensive dv cam.
I’m just learning so I think I need to read up on dropped frames , why they happen.
    Thanks again.
