    Hello,
I’m using FCP7. Have footage (apple pro res 422 hq) into system and commenced editing, then seen the time codes are duplicated in various places. Will this be okay when transferred for online given the clip names are all different? Or do i need to restripe (apologies for old terminology!) the time codes?
    many thanks
    Helen

That’s fine. As long as the clip names are different, and they have different REEL numbers. Repeated timecode happens all the time…but it’s only one part of the metadata. Reel number is one of the other main things that separates things. Same time code…different reel…means a different clip.

There are cases where you want repeated timecode. Say a two-camera shoot. You might want jam synced timecode…both cameras running the exact same timecode, so you can multi-clip them easily in post. They, of course, will have different reel numbers and different clip names.
