  • Timecodes not matching (Phantom .cine VS .mxf)

    Hi!

I received .cine files from Phantom Flex4K shot at 500 fps to work on Premiere but since it takes forever to load and render this files, I decided to bring them to Resolve and export them as .MXF at source resolution and with the same frame rate.

Now here are two things I noticed:
1 – When I replace the .mxf with the .cine in Premiere, the timecode differs slightly, as in, the proxy (mxf) is ahead of the raw from the camera.

2 – I imported manually the raw footage to Premiere and it tells me it’s at 24 fps. I did the same in Resolve, and it tells me it’s at 25 fps. The camera crew also found it weird because they were shooting at 500 fps with playback at 25.

My main question here is why am I getting different TCs when I replace the proxies with the raws.

    Cheers guys

It sounds like Pr is getting the RAW frame rate wrong and Resolve is correct. If the crew says it’s 500@25 and Pr says @24 then that would explain the timing issue
