Timecode reader in FCP
I am rendering a 30 minute sequence with the Timecode reader applied, and it’s taking about 2 hours to render. Does this make sense for it to take so long?
To answer that question, as well as provide any suggestions for making it go faster, you probably need more info as to what I did-
I exported an 23.98 XDCAM QT file that needs to have both 23.98 and 29.97 window burn. So I then brought this new QT file back into FCP, and put it on a 29.97 sequence and applied a TC reader to the clip itself so it would reflect the native 23.98 fps. I then nested this sequence into another 29.97 sequence and applied a TC reader filter to the nested sequence. So now there are two timecode window burns. It’s a lot of steps, so I hope that makes sense. Anyway, now the rendering alone is taking over two hours- not even exporting it! So does anybody have any suggestions about how to make it faster? Anything I’m missing?
For the record, I am running FCP 6.0.2 on an extremely powerful Mac Pro.
Thanks…
