Timecode Overlay During Edit – doesn’t do anything!
I want to be able to see the timecode of a project as a whole and have a seperate timecode for each clip I’m currently editing. According to the user manual, when you select the tickbox that says ‘Timecode Overlay During Edit’, found in the Program Monitor panel menu, you should then be able to see such a timecode but it literally doesn’t change anything as far as I can see.
Am I even doing this right? I can’t even find anyone else who wants to see these two timecodes on any communities so maybe I’m looking in the wrong place. Thanks.

Timecode overlay during edit is exactly that. When you are performing an edit in the timeline with your mouse or using the trim commands, you will see timecode – it’s not meant to display timecode all the time which is a point of confusion.
Best thing to do is apply the timecode effect to one clip, set timecode source to “clip” and then copy the effect in the effects panel. In the timeline panel, select all and hit paste and this should paste the effect on all clips. For timeline overlay, add a timecode effect to an adjustment layer.
