Timecode option grayed out in New Mulitcam Clip dialog box
Posted by Peter Ochs on July 25, 2014 at 6:28 amTrying to sync sources that have matching timecode, but the “Angle Synchronization” option for Timecode is grayed out in the pulldown menu. Am I missing something here?

July 25, 2014 at 7:59 pmFigured it out … one of the sources is non-drop while the others are drop frame. Yikes, gonna have to rely on audio sync, which isn’t all it’s cracked up to be in my experience. I see a lot of manual tweaking of multiclips in my future!

Even before it was (greatly) improved with 10.1.2 I had an extremely good track record synching with FCP. Even in some cases where the camera audio wasn’t even audible at first because it was so quite. I’ve been very pleasantly surprised in the past, even if nothing is 100% bullet-proof. I wouldn’t knock it till you try it. 😉

I’ve been amazed at how accurate audio sync is in FCPX. I had some GoPro footage that was essentially just the noise floor with occasionally barely audible dialogue… synced perfectly.

July 28, 2014 at 2:13 amYes. Audio sync has always been flat out amazing in my experience. There are some things to know about labeling cameras and making sure the time/date is somewhat accurate in all cams in the shoot, but beyond that it’s pretty near perfect for me.
