  • Timecode jumps in preset – why?

I just got my 100A back from the shop where they repaired the swtich that allows you to toggle ND filters. Now that works fine but, after an extensive shoot, I notice that each time I change batteries or go from AC to battery there is a dramatic timecode jump on my tape. This is after I have selected a preset timecode and told it to ‘REC run’ in TCG. What’s with that? The camera was not doing this before I sent it in. What setting has the factory changed that I don’t know about? Or, is it the usual ‘operator error’ of the uninformed? Thanks.

Does the timecode “jump” correspond to the approximate time you don’t have a battery on the camera? You’re sure you’re not in “Free Run” mode?

You internal battery (which stores date/time/TC) information may need a charge. Put AC adaptor on your camera with the battery power off for about 4 hours. See if this helps. This process is described further on page 27 of the manual, though that’s the page number for a 100B. It’s under the Section “Recharging the Built-In Battery”

If this doesn’t work, you might want to check to with your repair shop to see if they had to remove the battery to repair the camera.

    Good Luck,

Always power down when you change the battery or switch to/from AC. Then wait until the little LED next to the CAMERA/VCR button goes off before pulling the plug.
