Hey all, I’m sending an EDL from Avid (5.0) to the Davinci Resolve (Mac based on 7.1) When I add the R3D media to the Media pool Davinci seems to be changing the source timecode. Oddly enough in the player before you load it’s reading the proper timecode. Just when it’s loaded to the media pool it just changes. Wondering if it’s a bug or if something is wrong. The EDL matches Avid’s source and Davinci is reading it until it’s loaded. very odd. I know I could go into each shot and force it’s timecode but that’s painstaking so I thought I would see if it’s a known bug or if it’s something on my end I’m not doing with the settings or whatever.

    Thanks in advance 🙂

In the config page, there’s an option to generate the timecode based on frame number. I suspect that might be turned on.

Thanks, Tested it both ways but it still seems to be doing the same thing.

    Hmmm that doesn’t sound right.

Can you please restart the app, make sure the config is right, browse to the folder, and add it into a new project, just to make sure!

If the problem persists, please contact our support at davincihelp (at) blackmagic-design.com.

Thanks. I restarted, new project and settings and it still seems to be doing it. R3D files from different shows work fine, it’s just this particular bunch. They were transcoded at the same time same way and it’s n the data just doesnt want to be in pool!

    I’ll email support.

Exact same problem but with different files format
As soon as i load the clip in davinci media pool,
The timecode has changed from original

If someone find a workaround !! Please post it!

I was never able to find my answer. I had to go through each one and change the timecode and because that was painful I convinced offline to change some shots to ones that worked.

Unfortunately my time was limited on DaVinci so I wasn’t able to run tests of clips and such. Hopefully someone who has access to a DaVinci can experiment. Would love to know too! Or maybe the new version corrected a bug.

did you try to switch the timecode to “ASSOLUTE” on the Red media Tab ?

it might be reading the edgcode…

I can confirm this is happening with Resolve Lite 8.1.1 and Avid 5.5

I tried to do a roundtrip with just ONE clip in the avid timeline, and its very obvious that the Media Pool timecode is off for whatever reason. The offset is also NOT consistent, so using Add into Media Pool with offset doesn’t work.

    Definite bug here, davinci folks.

From the above, this is happening with all different kinds of footage, but FWIW, mine is Canon 5D h.264 files with TC and Tape info added via QTchange.

My workaround right now is to try and load the AAF, note all the clips that didn’t load, manually load them from the MediaStorage into Davinci’s media pool, CHANGE EACH ONE’S TC to match what AVID tells me is the actual start TC. Once the media pool is populated with all the right clips, delete the session and master session and reload the AAF.

Finally, the sequence is conformed right. Now, caveat, I did a roundtrip with ONE clip but haven’t yet with multiple clips in the sequence, so bringing this back into AVID may still fail due to the TC change in the Media Pool I made manually.

PLEASE FIX THIS BUG! Or if its a process change we have to make, do let us know.

    Thanks.
