Timecode issue when exporting to tape
Hi
I have to export a short piece with specific timecode to tape – the video start has to be exactly 10:00:00:00 but there is preceeding leader and bars etc.
When exporting to a tape (Sony A1E camera), already striped with timecode, a new TC is applied – very different, it’s almost an hour further along than the one I expect to see: e.g. The striped code was 10:07:47:20 and the one that was imposed was 11:05:29:21
I have the project set up in Premiere with the correct code, it seeks the tape to find the correct ‘assemble at’ position then this new code appears.
Anyone know what I’m missing?

You can assemble edit to a camera? I’ve never heard of that.

I’ve been through all of the online docs and scoured the web for similar posts. I’m not having problems exporting sound and vision to tape, or with the device control starting and stopping the recording.
It’s purely a timecode issue, is there no way of ensuring that the timecode from the timeline is correctly written to tape via Firewire?

I think you’re missing the point. Premiere Pro does not control what timecode gets written to tape, however it can tell the tape device to cue the tape to a specific timecode and then start sending data for the tape device to record from that point on.

Thanks Eddie, but that’s what I’m doing. Then, when it gets to the specific timecode on the striped tape, it gets overwritten with a different one. But from what you’re saying it sounds like an issue with the hardware rather than Premiere so I’ll see if there are options that I’ve missed…
