  • Timecode – how do you find it on a clip added to the project window ?

Posted by Randall Clarke on February 1, 2006 at 11:17 pm

Like the subject states, if I drag a selection from the trimmmer window to the project window, how can I view the original timecode, not the project timecode, of the dragged clip ? Doing a hockey video, and have lost my place a couple of times and just want to view the timecode of the last clip added so I can find my place in the captured tape file in the trimmer window

    thanks a lot

You have to apply the timecode effect to the clip while it’s still in the Media pool. Then you can do whatever you want with it and the original T/C will always be there.

If you want to simply see the timecode in the event thumbnail in the Timeline, rather than on the Preview screen, turn on View > Active Take Information, or Ctrl Shift I.

I always have this on, it’s very handy – you can even see the In or Out frame T/C change as you drag the edge of an event.

Preferences>Video> Show source frame numbers on event thumbnails as> timecode
