I am a newbie, struggling, feel like a surgeon about to operate with no experience! I keep getting “capture was aborted due to timecode break” even though my preference is set to “warn after capture.” I’m just about to check out hemlock.org but before I do I thought I’d seek an answer here. I have a Canon Vixia HV-30. My Easy Setup has Format: HD, Sequence Preset:HDV 1080i50, Capture Preset HDV, Device Control Present: HDV 1080i50 FireWire Basic. The camera setting was HDV (PF30).

If you shot your footage in 30p why would you use 1080i50 Easy Setup? You need to use an Easy Setup that is consistent with your footage. I would suggest the HDV – 1080p30 Fire Wire Basic. That would be a setup that is consistent with your footage.

If you still get timecode issues, you can make a dub of the tape which would lay new timecode and remove any/all timecode breaks.

Thanks, Alan… I read that my camera was set at a default of 1080i60p, not sure what the relationship is between that and 30p. Do you know? I know 1080i60p seems to be something exclusive to Canon.

    Thanks again.

1080i60p is a contradiction. The i stands for interlaced and the p stands for progressive. You can’t have footage that is both interlaced and progressive at the same time on the same tape. The standard formats would be 1080p60 or 1080i60, but not 1080i60p.

Thanks. If I didn’t know any better I’d swear this was a plot developed by the government to make people want to commit suicide to avoid overpopulation.
