I’m trying to capture footage off of a tape that has major timecode breaks. I’ve been unsuccessful in using the Capture Now option. Everytime I try capturing an error message pops up alerting me of the timecode breaks. Is there a way I can turn off this warning option and just capture with timecode breaks?

    Thanks
    Brian

If you simply don’t care about the TC (kind of dangerous thinking) switch to “Non-Controllable Device”, play the tape manually, and use Capture Now.

Better solution is to make a new copy of the errant tape.

Connect any two DV units (camcorders or decks) via FireWire and just make a new dub of the old tape to a new one.

The new copy will be “first-generation quality” but it will have a new continuous Timecode.

Then, just capture from the new copy.

Takes a bit more time this way, but having reliable TC can save you many problems in an edit situation.

Thats one way which Thax mentioned.
The other way which I do , when i capture with timecode breaks is as follows

    Go to “User preferences”
Uncheck the [Abort capture on dropeed frames ] option
and [On timecode break:] option ;- switch to “Warn after Capture” instead of “Abort capture”

Hope the same works for you too 🙂

    Regards.
    Raj.
