    Hi list,

I apologise in advance if this fall under the category of RTFM, but I am shooting a two camera event at the weekend and am planning on using two 80 gig Firestore FS-4 Pro drives with two VX-100s. I will be doing a lot of intercutting between the two cameras so this is an experiment in how TC and direct to drive recording works.

A few questions: Can anyone give me a few lines on setting the VX-100 (first release) to Time Of Day and how I can get both cameras to be accurate to the second.

The second question is probably better for the FCP board as i relates to multicam editing and I will also post it there. If I sync using TC will FCP sync up the two cameras automatically. How does it deal with breaks in recording.

I’d be very grateful for any hints from anyone whose travelled this path and pointers to what I should be careful of. Is there a tutorial on this anywhere?

    Many thanks in advance.

    Kevin

For the timecode issue look at Noah’s response to this same question on Nov. 19, 2005. Basically, you use the remote control to reset the timecode on both cameras at the same time then record in free-run.

I’m not a FCP expert but here is how I have done multicam syncing. You will need to open a clip from the “A” camera and set an in mark at the head of a take, then open the corresponding clip from the “B” camera and mark in at the same timecode. With the two clips highlighted right click and select Make multiclip from the drop down menu. This will need to be done for each clip that has a break. The manual has a great expanation of the process.
