  • Time Stretching without affecting keyframes?

Posted by Justin Productions on July 1, 2006 at 1:31 pm

    Hey guys,

I have an explosion sample footage (that I buyed on detonationfilms.com) that I placed on my main footage. So I used the Motion Tracker to track it, masked it a little bit so it looks its behind the trees, Motion Blur, depth of field, color correction, all that stuff. Oh, and it was keyed.

Okay, so I realized, after previewing it, that the explosion was too fast for me. So, I said, okay, well, I’m gonna stretch it (Time Stretch), and use roving keyframes for the Position keyframes so it follows along with…well, the time stretching. Didn’t worked.

I just want to slow down the explosion itself, without loosing the keyframes data. Is that possible? I tried precomposing it too, not worked.

    Thx guys.

    Hi
apply your tracking data to a null, parent your explosion layer to that null.I think this way it should work:-)

    Hi Everyone,

Wow! It’s been almost 9 years since this question was posted, and I’m just now coming along! I suppose we all learn at different times and paces. For those of you like me who are coming to this thread in 2015, I’ve created a tutorial video which demonstrates this process:
