  • Time stretching a clip moves all subsequent clips

I’m very new to FCP so my first questions will probably be easy ones.

I want to slow down a clip, but when I apply a speed change to it, all the other clips on the other video tracks all shunt along. I have to take my clip to the end of the edit, stretch it there & move it back to position.

That can’t be right, can it?

Matchframe back to the original clip…make your speed change, then drop that clip into the timeline.

When you change the speed of the clip while it is in the timeline….it keeps the same in and out points, thus making it larger or smaller, depending on whether you increased or decreased the speed.
