Hi, in Premier Pro, for example, there is a time-remapping function. Is there is a similar thing for Sony Vegas? I have a scene where i need to ramp up the speed and then slow it down. I am aware that i could cut the portion of the clip out and then shorten the time it takes to complete by control dragging the sides. The problem with this is that the speed change in sudden whereas I am trying to make it ramp up. How would I go about doing this?

You could use a velocity envelope.

Indeed, Vegas has that feature and its called the velocity envelope.
Select it by right clicking the video on the timeline.
You can speed up and slow down video events to your liking as you described.
