Time not matching AE CS.5 & Media Player
Posted by Micheal Bemma on April 29, 2012 at 5:24 pmOk, so i have about a 7 minute clip.
1080 59.94p mts file type. AVC HD 32 bit
So i’m watching it media player for the clips i want to take out.
The points are getting further and further the farther i get in the clip.
so there’s a descrepency in the way one of them players.
It’s small, (i assume something to the 59.94 vs 60 frames) but after 5 mins it’s getting noticable and annoying to find 2 times.
I was looking at 5:37 (about 1/2 a second through) in media player.
to match up in AE pretty close the time code is 5:39;53
so seeking and cutting and triming the time is not “hard” it’s 2+ seconds off by this point.
Thanks again for all the help (i read here alot) 🙂Jeff Brown replied 14 years ago 3 Members · 11 Replies -

April 30, 2012 at 1:19 amIt should b obvious by now that media player isn’t a professional tool that will assist you with your editing requirements. Do the stuff in PPro or AE.

April 30, 2012 at 1:47 amThe preview in AE is only at 24 and i can’t seek very well.
Can’t find a drop frame preview option, watching it at 45% speed makes life hard.
(I’ll take that fix as well to preview it better 🙂 ) -

April 30, 2012 at 3:30 pmHello,
I have Pre Pro, part of the pack.
So i loaded it up (been a long long time since i used it)
tried to setup a new project, can’t get 59.94 1080 p project.
then it won’t reconize the audio in the mts files (after effects sees it fine) it’s from a panasonic sdt750 5.1.After effects has just been what i used for everything. Never even thought about Premiere.
so any help with the frame rate and audio. I think that would be alot easier to use for the basic editing. No special effects in this, just some cleaning and colour correction. Many thanks again.

May 1, 2012 at 2:32 pmI’m curious where your source footage is coming from that you have 1080 59.94P ? The common HD rates are of course, 720/59.94P or 1080/29.97P.
Not sure you’ll find a PPro preset for 59.94P.

May 1, 2012 at 3:30 pmHello,

60i on lower settings.
Can’t find a preset for 1080 59.94 and can’t figure out how to make my own. -

May 1, 2012 at 3:45 pmTo create a sequence with customized settings, select any preset. In the Settings dialog window, click on the General tab, Click on the drop-down menu and select Desktop. Once Desktop is selected, you can select any fps and in i/p modes to suit your needs.

May 1, 2012 at 4:38 pmSomething isn’t working.
I did the 1080 29.97p 5.1 audio.
Go in to project setting, go in to general tab (the default)editing mode is blocked out (can’t click on the pull down)
same as time base/ frame size /pixel aspect / fields
only pull downs that i can click on is the audio diplay format.
and display format video.I assume there’s a way to unlock it. but i can’t find it.

May 1, 2012 at 5:11 pmYou create a NEW Sequence. Follow the instructions in my previous post. You do not go into the Project Settings.

May 1, 2012 at 7:17 pmWhich versions of AE and Premiere do you have? Hopefully, you’ll be able to upgrade at a reduced cost or you may want to wait till Adobe’s Creative Cloud apps appear – which they say may be about a month or so from now.
Cheers
