    Hey,
im trying to learn how to use Sony Vegas and I’m having some problems with a video that im editing and i was hoping one of you could help.

So heres the problem, theres a big group of clips in my time line that are separated from the first part of my movie and I’m trying to move them over so they all meet, but when i move even one clip it duplicates the clip so when i move it i move the clip but it copies the clip and the original clip stays in its original place and cannot be cut or deleted, but the copy i can move anywhere…

    any suggestions?

Hmmm… Vegas only copies the clip when you hold down the Ctrl key. Check to see if your Ctrl key is stuck. Otherwise it is possible that you have multiple copies of the clip already stacked on top of each other. If the last one won’t move make sure it is not locked. (right-click | Properties | Lock should be unchecked)

One way is to use the “selection edit tool” and lasso all the clips you want to move and drag them to where you want, best used with snap to clips turned on. I know the ripple edit will move clips over when inserting a clip, not sure if it works the other way.
