  • time limit on new comp?

Posted by Vin2000 on October 9, 2007 at 4:01 am

when i create a new composition, under duration it asks me a certain amount of time. i don’t really know how long it will take me, so that being said, can i put something like 4 minutes and then when im done cut the rest of it out so it doesn’t have to render all that space? And if so, how can I cut it on the timeline?

    Thanks again!

    Vin.

apple-K …. then you can extend or shorten your composition at any time as needed …. you can also choose to only render out segments of your timeline in the render queue …

you should check out some of the tutorials here at the cow … even though some of them are for older versions of AE they will set you up with more than a basic knowledge of the program

You can also set the duration of the workspace in the composition by using the ‘n’ (in point) and ‘b’ (out point) keys. AE’s default behavior is to only render within the workspace.

My mistake, I was rushing the response.

I always remember it because ‘b’ is to the left of ‘n’ on a western english keyboard, and the in point is always to the left of the out point in AE… I just happened to not pay attention to that this morning =)
