Time Lapse Style Transition
Here is what I would like to achieve:
An actor starts out by holding a grape by the stem (or by hand), and is going to feed it to an actress laying right beside him (Think ancient royalty dining). However, as his hand progresses towards the actress’ mouth, it shrivels up into a raisin.
How can I pull off this effect in what looks like one smooth shot?

it has nothing to do with time lapse or even in a time lapse manner…
call it morphing, transformation, whatever.
track your motion of the grape, hand, add the tracker information to a null object, find a raisin image or equivalent footage, parent it to the null, position the image layer well and mask it out to fit into your composition and animate the mask along to movement.
ou can also play with mattes parented to the tracker null, keeps you away from keyframing masks.
