I have no such effect (Color Profile Converter effect) in Premiere Pro CC 2015!

Please advise.

burn in the correct color management with AE’s utility color profile converter. render it out or dynamic link
like how the post says precompose and then premiere will have no choice but to read it correctly.

I can understand color management can be tricky between brands/manufacturers, but within one suite from same brand is quite incomprehensible. In this case one MUST purchase AE just to keep colors to the final video.

That said, this does not work at all for!

Below I’ve documented the workflow with screenshots.

Here is a sceenshot of the correct color in PS and the imported in AE:

Here is a screenshot of the imported with CPC/sRGB applied:

In AME the colors are still wrong:

In the final video, there is no sRGB to be seen – colors still wrong:

The same goes for Rec.709.

So the wrong colors are consistent throughout the workflow in AE…….

did you precomp the AE comp before applying the effect? what is your project working space? what is view-simulate -set to?
if you have your working space turned off, your input profile should be srgb and your output rec709(or whatever your monitor profile is). yours is set to working space.

you can batch convert color profiles in photoshop, no AE needed!

vlc isn’t color managed. if you can re-import the render or file back into AE or photoshop and interpret it correctly, it should look fine.

for a video player, windows media player home classic(very similar to vlc) supports basic color management. it also depends if your monitor is color managed.

1: No precomping as this is a test just for color – thus just one layer and one effect – CPC. Comp setting is default – no preset selected. I first import sRGB image sequence and then create comp from it before adding adjustment layer+CPC to it
2: Project setting is default – Color Settings Working Space “none”, but setting it to sRGB has the same end result whether or not I also set CPC to sRGB as well for in/output
3: View-simulate is default – “No Output Simulation”. Setting this to Custom+sRGB does not change anything for the end result
4: Imported images are sRGB as per ACR color space/export of the RAW files saved as JPG
5: As you can see from the screenshot, my CPC is set to sRGB for output – not “Project Working Space” – changing input to sRGB has no effect on final video nor does changing project to sRGB..
6: My monitor is color managed

After testing on other non-calibrated devices like smart phones, I’ve found that my issue is with the wide gamut monitor, as colors in video are same as jpg on those devices. With a consumer monitor on my computer I would have had the same experience.

if you temporarily turned on working space and set it to srgb and
set your view-simulate to your wide gamut monitor’s color profile, it should look fine.

unfortunately, adobe has programmed all cc 2015 dynamic links to be set automatically rec709. don’t ask me why.

since your monitor is not rec709, 99% of software won’t be seen right unless you either…
1. view simulate to your monitor’s color
2. calibrate monitor to rec709
3. use a special 10 bit 3DLUT that converts rec.709 to adobe 1998 or wide gamma then you won’t even need to convert any more profiles with lut buddy.
