I’m thinking about purchasing the Canon XH-A1. From what I understand, this camera does not have a time-lapse setting. Therefore, I assume that the only way to create time lapse is in Vegas. If I understand correctly, I would have to import say 1 hour of footage and then speed it up on the timeline. This is going to take up a lot of hard drive space and space on the finished DVD, correct? Any ideas or suggestions?

If you start with 1 hour of HDV that’s about 13 Gb

Speed it up 12x in Vegas (Velocity envelope 300% max and Ctrl Drag 400% max) and render – you will now have about 5 min or 1 Gb. Repeat the process and you’ll have less than half a minute or 1/12 Gb – as it gets faster it gets shorter and less space.
