Question? It has taken 4hrs so far and I am only 14% done with an export of a sequence that is about an hour long. I did not render before the export. I am exporting via .h264.

    I am using a G5 dual 2GHZ 3GB DDR SDRAM.

I dont think it should be taking this long. No other app is runnung. What should I do?

    Thanks

    Thanks

It can take a long time to export h264 becaouse it has to compress the video. Export goes much quicker if you use the current settings.

What are you going to do with the video is it hoing to DVD the web? if it is going to DVD I would export it using current settings

no, actually it is going to play on a plasma tv through a quicktime only. But I need it to have the highest quality available with a small file size. Since it needs to play on a laptop that is not so processor intensive

    Jared,

What is your original on the timeline? No one can help you without that information.

Well, you probably should not have ripped the DVD to H264 if you were going to do additional editing, DV would have made your life easier. I think at this point you’d better just bite the bullet and let the export go. Are you exporting to a different frame size or the same frame size?

Handbrake does not give you the ability to rip to DV, only certin codecs and since the h264 is the only one that I can manipulate in FCP, that is what I had to work with, and yes, the frame size was changed

I guess I am going to have to bite the bullet huh? It is now at 15% with 21 hrs left. Is it really gonna take a full 24hrs to finish this. This is crazy

    Thanks

Next time lose handbrake and use DVDxDV. Your time is too valuable to be tied up in 24 hour-long exports…
