I know it’s possible, at least I’ve seen it in vids before…

manipulating speed of clips using keyframes instead of cuts. This allows for time to warp down to a stop, or warp up from a stop.

How’s it done, oh, masters of the AE-verse?

Search the AE help for “time remapping”. For more tips, search the COW using the same.

Note that TR won’t actually create frames between your original frames, so when it slows down, you’ll see jerkiness. To do it right, shoot high-speed for slo-mo, then use TR to speed it up to normal running speed. Otherwise, you’ll need a plugin such as Twixtor to create the intermediate frames for slo-mo.

Use Retimer from Realviz. It’s got amazing quality and very easy to use.

Actually, since Twixtor has been rejigged, I’ve found that it can handle shots that ReTimer can’t.

    I’d demo both.

Yeah, now that you mention it… I remeber reading something about the new Twixtor advantages in time remapping. I’ll check them both out. It’d be a great bonus for the skate vids with pyrotechnics that we’ve been shooting.
