Using AE CC 2014. Im needing to import an .obj file for use with Trapcode Form. When I try to import the .obj file into After Effects the file is grayed out and I cannot select it.

A previous version of the project has the .obj file already imported into it but it is unlinked and offline (giving me color bars.) When I open the original comp that has the .obj file in it, referenced by Trapcode Form, I get the following warning, “After Effects error: Invalid 3D OBJ layer (1) (25 :: 241)

I’ve tried opening this in the earlier version of CC and get the same results.

Any ideas. I am under tight deadline.

    Thanks Fellow Bovines,

OBJ can be weird – most likely the internal data structure is messed up. Try downloading Blender (free) import the OBJ and then save it back from there as OBJ. This should fix that issue. Hope this is not too late.
You could also try to do the same using C4D.
