When I used to shoot tape, creating a “window dub” was a snap. With P2 files, I’m wandering in the dark. Presuming one can, how does one display the camera’s recorded time code on acquired media and then output this to either DVD or, egads, VHS tape? Basically, my client needs to review field material and make selects.
    Thanks,
    David

Apply TC reader filter that is located in EFFECTS Bin. Make DVD or VHS dub.

    PS
Make SURE you get the TC READER and NOT TC Generator!

Once you get it in Final Cut, there’s a Time-Code filter you can drop on it. Then either export to a web file, a DVD, or run it off on tape.

Be careful to note: There is a time code filter that starts with a number you put in and goes up from there, and there’s another filter that reads the embedded time code and shows that number. That’s the one you want, so make sure you’re using the right one.

They’re both in a folder called “Video” in the effects bin.

    Jeff, Fred,
Thanks so much for the quick response. I’ll give it a whirl.
