Read the Fine Manual. From page 33:
Step 1: Power on the camera.
Step 2: Set the TAPE/P2 switch to P2.
Step 3: Press the MENU button on the top of the AG-HVX200
camera. Select the RECORDING SETUP option.
Set the REC FORMAT P2 to the desired DVCPRO format and resolution. (PN modes are not supported).
Step 4: Under the OTHER FUNCTIONS menu, set the 1394 CONTROL to BOTH.
Step 5: Press REC trigger button on the top or side (Step 1) of the camera.Select EXT TC in the Setup menu. This option records the video camera timecode in the file. There are other timecode options available, refer to TIME CODE on page 57.

Actually, there is a software upgrade for the FS-100 that adds support for PN modes. It’s like $30-$40 or so.

February 16, 2007 at 6:07 pmOnly sort of. You do *not* set the camera to PN mode, it won’t work at all with the firestore if you do that. You set the camera to 720/24p mode (or 720/30p mode), and set the FIRESTORE to P2/PN mode (or Quicktime PN) mode.
It works, but it’s got issues. It only records 24fps or 30fps, if you set the cam to any variable frame rates then the “pn” simulation doesn’t work anymore and it reverts back to normal 60fps recording. Also, it won’t play audio when you go to play the clips back. So you get 2.5x as much recording time on the FS-100 in 720/24p “pn” simulation, but when you play your clips back they’ll be silent during FS-100 playback. The audio is recorded, but the only way you’ll hear it is to offload the clips from the FS-100 into a computer.
