Just worked on a dramatic (hoped to be) series that was shot on the hvx200. Was called in on the last day with my VariCam
as a 2nd camera. They had shot for 9-10 days with 2 200s but the other owner/operator had to leave for
another gig. Getting to the question here. They used a clap board (double system sound as well) because they didn’t know how to jam the codes on the two cameras (the 200s not the Varicam). I thought I read someplace that the 200s can be synced via firewire. Is that true?
Can anyone route me to a place to get info? I probably won’t be back on the shoot but would like to help the producer who is a friend.

As a side note I spoke with the editor today and he tells me that they are very happy with the 200/VariCam
mixed video. It was all exteriors and in bright light.
    Thanks for your time

Yes you can sync timecode via firewire. You have to set them both to the same TC mode, and choose FREE RUN and TC PRESET. Then designate one camera as the master and the other as the slave. Put the master in camera mode, and the slave in VCR mode and set “1394 TC INPUT” to “on”. Then connect them via firewire, and press the TC SET button; the slave will read the incoming timecode stream and force its TC PRESET to match what the other camera’s outputting. From that point on they should stay in sync.

Note: this will not work if you’re using 720/24pN mode or 720/30pN mode. In those modes no data is output via the firewire; no video, and no timecode. So you’d have to change to 720/24P mode first in order to be able to set the timecode, then swap back to 720/24pN mode.
