Hey gang – I’ve got several P2/MXF clips from a project I’ve shot and need to provide a time code DVD for the client to review off line. In CS3 I usually just drop all the source clips in order onto the timeline, create a transparent video layer, drop time code effect on that layer and it usually works.

In this case, I have selected several good takes and dropped them on the timeline but the time code always starts at 00:00:00:00 and the clips are not in order or start at 00:00

Is there a method I’m not aware of to export a time code burn using the actual time code from each clip?

    Thanks!

    ~Mike~

Because you want clip specific timecode, you have to apply it to each clip and change the timecode setting to media.

Thanks guys! I applied the time code to the first clip, tweaked the settings and did a copy and paste to the remaining clips and all is well and in sync. I never realized you didn’t have to create a transparent video layer to add time code. I don’t know where I even saw that but it doesn’t matter now. I got it working correctly. Thanks!

I think you _do_ need TC on a separate layer if you want to have “timeline timecode” instead of per-clip TC.

Yeah I forgot about timeline code. That is correct.
