Tiger/Kona System Test question
Posted by Bob Zelin on May 4, 2005 at 2:04 amHi –
I have not used Tiger yet, but are there any issues in getting
the AJA Kona System Test program to run under Tiger. And does
Tiger have the Allum Stuffit program included, so we can unstuff
these programs?Thanks –

May 4, 2005 at 6:55 amI can state that StuffIt is no longer bundled with Tiger. Boooo. I guess we will all have to keep it Zipped. NOT.
I can also state that Tiger needs more time at the mothership. 10.4.2 should be a marvelous release!

May 4, 2005 at 10:05 pmHi AJA !
I have a request. I have just confirmed that Tiger DOES NOT come with Allume Stuffit, so there is NO WAY to decompress SIT SITX or HQX files.
Tiger supports decompression of zip, gzip, tar’d gzip, and bzip2 files. Will AJA downloads, including AJA Kona System Test be offered as these native files, so we don’t have to purchase StuffIt for Tiger?
Thanks –

Yes, we are going to switch our files on the website over to zip…not sure when this will be complete, but we are listening!
Thanks,

Please read the entire site before posting.
The FREE expander from Allume is now $49.95 for the “shareware”.Bob Zelin

May 6, 2005 at 2:05 amGeez…Zelin complainin’ about 50 bucks! For the record, StuffitX files are pretty amazing. I have compressed down a 250 Megabyte AVID uncompressed animation to a managable 25 Megabytes. Normal .sit files couldn’t come close. If you have to move these big files around, nothing beats .sitx. Allume has really stepped up their algorithms, and no one else is close.
I think I use Stuffit nearly every day.
Show your support for their efforts…get the upgrade.

You are usually dead on about everything but you are wrong about this.
The $49.99 shareware product is “Stuffit Standard”, which includes the tools to create archives as well as decompress them.
Stuffit Expander is a free download as always. Click the Green Download button under the red word free and you will see for yourself.John

Yep, John you’re right and Bob is wrong. I downloaded the free stuffit expander yesterday (version 9.0.2) and it’s running fine with Tiger on my laptop. So really there’s no need to switch over to zip files unless AJA wants to.

And just as a caveat to this, in you update to 9.0.2, and you’re running Expander 9.0 or earlier, you need to download the FULL version, not the upgrade. The upgrade will only work if you’re running 9.0.1 as stated on their website.

May 9, 2005 at 3:52 pmWhether I am right or wrong, its a horribly designed webpage that is totally unclear…just too much info and not very well explained.
Anyway, like Walter, I downloaded the free version and it works just fine for FREE.
