I Have 3 FCP suites to upgrade and I just learned that FCP 5 will still run on 10.3.9. My question is will FCP5, Motion 2, Soundtrack Pro, DSP 4 work with the “new benefits” on 10.3.9. My hesitation of going to tiger on these edit systems has to do with the fibre config., San MP and ongoing projects/media. What exactly is making things faster; FCP 5, QT 7, or Tiger ? I know the simple answer is: all three. Will I loose the benefits of FCP 5 staying on 10.3.9 ? And what about QT 7 ? Thanks in advance for any feedback

in 10.3.9 you wont be able to take advantage of some of the features of fcp studio without tiger
ie . in motion the 32 bit float , core image which is in tiger and other features,
i would go to tiger for all the new features alone .

Everyone has told me to ERASE & INSTALL when going to Tiger. So make sure all of your components are ready for the leap, becasue it takes a while to back-up & then restore everything should you have to go back. I have Medea raids for example that the drivers aren’t ready to play nicely with Tiger yet. It makes since not to upgrade just for the sake of upgrading- IMHO.
