We just picked up a couple of workstations with the Final Cut Studio. Because we use NIS authentication for users we had to change the “default” uid and gid for each user. While this allows users to log in and mount server drives it has now stopped the users from accessing all the fonts. Accounts created locally and the “default” uid’s and gid’s kept have full access to all the fonts. We have checked permissions, all seems to be okay. Has anyone come across this issue or know someone who knows someone who…

    Thanks for your help.

I figured out what to do although each machine required its own fix. On one machine I had to delete the user account, recreate it and chown the users home directory with the users NIS uid and gid. The other I deleted the account, recreated it, chowned the home directory with the users NIS uid and gid and then manually added the fonts.
